Change in MariboHilleshög’s management
Hans Christian Ambjerg joins MariboHilleshög on 1 April 2020 and replaces Niels Mikkelsen, CEO of MariboHilleshög, who wishes to retire. In the coming months, Niels Mikkelsen will secure a good transference of the management of MariboHilleshög to Hans Christian Ambjerg (55) who is a chemical engineer, holds an MBA and has worked in food ingredients for 30 years. He has considerable international leadership experience in the entire value chain from R&D to production, marketing and sales with emphasis on strategy execution. Most recently, he worked at Doehler, a German producer of ingredients and before that, he was responsible for the ingredient business at DSM. He has also held management positions at Borealis and Chr. Hansen.
Chairman of the board of MariboHilleshög, Truels Damsgaard, looks forward to the cooperation: “Hans Christian Ambjerg is coming to DLF with a solid experience within leadership and strategy and he is the right person to manage and execute the strategic direction for MariboHilleshög going forward”.
Niels Mikkelsen’s entire work life has been dedicated to the seed business. He started out as newly qualified agronomist as a production assistant at the Danish Sugar Factories and moved on to be production manager at SN-Frø until 1989, where he was employed at DLF for a few months, after SN Frø was purchased by DLF in 1988. Over the past 30 years, Niels has had the beet seeds in Holeby as his focal point and from the beginning, he has been part of the management. First as responsible for production and procurement at Maribo Seed for two centuries, and for the last 11 years as top manager of the beet seed business.
“Niels is passionate about the beet seeds and has been a driving force in the industry where he is greatly respected and is chairman of the Beet Section in the trade association, Danish Seed. It was not least his achievement and efforts that made it possible for DLF to acquire the beet seed business from Syngenta in 2017, thus bringing Niels “home” to DLF with the beet seeds. For this, we owe him great thanks”, says Truels Damsgaard.
